Selena Mersey is a musical comedy powerhouse, bisexual burlesque babe, and a force of nature theatremaker.

A rising star on the UK's theatre landscape, she has performed in the finals of the Musical Comedy Awards 2023, the 2022 semi-finals of Europe’s most prestigious burlesque competition Burlesque Idol, been featured on the UK’s premier comedy streaming platform NextUp, and made a splash on TikTok with over 3.5 million views.

Launching her solo career in 2022 with her “filthy, Freudian, feminist odyssey” Madonna/Whore, Selena has rapidly gained acclaim, enjoying two consecutive sell-out years at Brighton Fringe. The show has taken her to Brighton Fringe, FemFest, Out to Lunch Festival in Belfast, and the world’s biggest arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe. Her accolades include the Pebble Trust International Touring Award at Brighton Fringe 2024, the prestigious Phoebe Waller-Bridge-backed Keep It Fringe Fund for Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024, and dual wins at Brighton Fringe 2023 for the Lamb Queer Comedy Award and the Brighton Seagull Award for Best Concept. During this time, she was also selected as one of FemFest's Early Career Artists (2022-2023), further solidifying her reputation as one of the most exciting new talents in theatre.

Based in Brighton, Mersey writes and performs for political feminist theatre collective Clap Back Club and topical satire titan The Treason Show, now in its record-breaking 24th year. She has studied under the instruction of burlesque divas Veronica Blacklace (Cabaret Boheme, Showlesque) and Bebe Boheme (Bebette’s Cabaret), after having trained in London with the acclaimed House of Burlesque at the world-famous Pineapple Dance Studios.
